About Osteoarthritis (OA)

There are many things that can affect your arthritis and how it flares daily. One indicator for it is your diet. Research has shown some connections between food and helping you feel better, stay healthy, and prevent chronic disease such as cardiovascular disease and arthritis. Certain types of food can influence your symptoms in a positive way alleviating the swelling in joints and causing less pain.

Nutrition is one of the most difficult areas to control when suffering from arthritis. An arthritic person has more difficulty preparing foods and cooking due to swelling, pain and limited range of motion in joints such as your hands and knees. Additionally, standing to cook or prepare a meal puts additional stain on these already sore points in your body. The pain and subsequent depression can affect your appetite and eating habits.
